The National Candle Association advises that NO candle should be burned for more than 4 hours. It is recommended that the candle should stop burning when there is 1/2 of wax left.

Try moving the candle to a smaller room.
Some fragrances will fill a much larger area. Some fragrances are just inherently lighter than expected.
If your candle is in an appropriate size room for the candle itself, you may have become nose blind. Being nose blind is a temporary, naturally occurring adaptation of your body that leads to an inability to detect or distinguish common scents in your surroundings.

What is a full melt pool?
A full melt pool means the wax has melted from one edge of the candle to the other.
Our candles are designed to not have a full melt pool until the 3rd or 4th burn. A full melt pool could take as many as four, 4 hour burns to reach that full melt pool.

Proper wick trimming will help prevent this. If your wick is properly trimmed then check for any drafts that may be close. Drafts could come from a fan, open window, or vent.
Black smoke is also caused when a candle is burned for too long. This is a good indicator that the candle needs to be blown out and the wick trimmed once the wax has harden.
-
The wick could have been trimmed too short. Try scraping a little wax off the top of the candle once the candle has hardened.

Remember if your candle does catch fire DO NOT PUT WATER ON IT. This is the same concept as putting water on a grease fire in the kitchen. Putting water on a candle to extinguish it will only cause it to erupt into a more dangerous fire.
